After care for your building

All our garden buildings are pressure treated as standard. This treatment will give you a 10-year anti-rot guarantee. Timber is a porous material and will absorb water, although we try our very best to make all our buildings watertight, we cannot guarantee this is possible. It is essential that you treat your garden building with an oil-based water repellent once the building is fitted. This will prolong the life of the wood and we recommend annual application. We also advise the use of guttering to steer away rain. All buildings should be aired out regularly to prevent condensation or mould accumulating inside the building. If mould does appear Yorkshire Sheds & Fencing cannot be held responsible or liable for any damage to goods.

Important Information.

·      We ensure our buildings are tongue and groove throughout, including the roof and floor.

·      We do not use OSB (chipboard) in our buildings or Shiplap.

·      Sizes advertised are Feet and Inches, when manufactured all buildings are made to the metric sizing eg. 10′ x 8′ = 3m x 2.4m.

FSC Certified

All our timber is sourced from well managed forests which are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. This confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability.

Tanalised Products

All our buildings are pressure treated which carries a 10-year guarantee against wood rot or insect infestation.

What is Tanalised Pressure Treated Wood?

This is wood that has been specially treated with a mixture of chemicals to make the     timber more durable and long lasting. This treatment is done under pressure which forces chemicals into the wood (thus “pressure treated” wood), and generally involves a chemical called Tanalith E (thus “tanalised” wood).

Heavy Duty Felt

We only use Heavy Duty Ployfelt on our garden buildings at Yorkshire Sheds & Fencing. Even though it is made the same way as standard felt products, which is by soaking a compressed cloth fibre or matted card base in bitumen. The advantage is that Heavy Duty Felt has twice as much raw material used in the manufacturing process. That is twice the amount of fibre and bitumen. The finished product overall is double the thickness of standard shed felt and it also tends to be coarser.

The quality is much better and that is something we pride ourselves on. We offer a 1-year guarantee with this product, if anything happens to the felt in terms of leakages and tears then we will replace it free of charge.

EPDM Rubber Roof

We offer and recommend an EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) Rubber Roof at Yorkshire Sheds & Fencing for flat roof garden buildings. This is an economical and durable roofing alternative to felt. The rubber roofing membrane is a maintenance free synthetic solution to the common problems faced when looking after a flat roof. It’s simple, smooth, and unobtrusive finish will blend seamlessly into your home. In time, you may find a felt flat roof can pick up moss and algae; the synthetic rubber doesn’t support the growth of moss, so you are guaranteed a clear roof. It also doesn’t easily show dirt, meaning less time spent for you up on the roof cleaning. The EPDM rubber roofing is made up of recycled materials, making it environmentally friendly compared to alternative roofing systems and it is BBA (British Board of Agrement) Certified, so you know that you are getting the best quality.

We offer a 25-year guarantee with this product.
